Anaerobic: Higher-powered, higher intensity, shorter duration efforts – those less than several minutes. Anaerobic is Greek for “worth while.” Pukie wants to know why there are 1 million recreational triathletes but only 7 recreational 800 meter athletes. — Pukie, http://www.crossfit.com/journal/library/10_03_met_cond_glosry.pdf

tabatas revisited

Today was a rest day. I’ve been prescribing Tabatas to others recently, but haven’t done any myself for a long time, more than 6 weeks. Need a dose, so

Tabata push-ups: 17-17-17-17-13-7-6-7 = 101 total, less than my previous 105. I expected to increase, but I haven’t done push-ups in over a month. Yes, you should boggle at my uncharacteristic neglect.

Tabata pull-ups: 10-10-10-10-7-7-3-5 = 62 total. My first time trying this.

I’ve a lot to say about Tabatas, mostly concerning Gant Grimes’ huge tabata project, which began with a 12 week study in late August 2007. The project generated a lot of interest and Gant got stoked on his findings and progress. He documented everything beautifully…

…but this story must wait. I’m eager to write it up as soon as I can steal the time; this expectation was the justification for this entry.
